| Question:
|
I received a prescription from a private doctor in Flagstaff. Can I get it
filled at WIHCC?
|
| Answer:
|
We do not accept outside prescriptions. All prescriptions filled by WIHCC must
be written by one of our medical staff. Usually that requires the patient to be seen in our
clinic.

| Question:
|
How do I get a refill on my medication?
|
| Answer:
|
If your bottle shows refills left (check the top right section
of the prescription label), you or your designee may come by the
pharmacy before 3:30 pm to make the request. Alternatively, you may
call us at 928-289-6118 to make the request. Please know exactly which
medications you need before calling, and allow 24 hours for us to
process your request.
|
| Question:
|
Why does it take so long to fill my medications?
|
| Answer:
|
We try very hard to process everyone’s medication orders in a timely manner.
Unfortunately, on especially busy days, wait times can exceed 1 hour. We fill patient’s
medications in the order that they come in. When you drop off your chart, our pharmacists
review your medication orders to ensure that the treatment your doctor has prescribed is the
best possible choice, and can be taken safely with your other medicines. Also, don’t forget
that due to the diabetes clinic, Wednesday is the busiest day in Winslow, Monday is the busiest
in Leupp, and Thursdays are busiest in Dilkon.

| Question:
|
I need a medicine that isn’t carried by WIHCC. Do I have to go to an outside
pharmacy?
|
| Answer:
|
If a doctor at WIHCC has determined you need a medicine that we don’t normally
carry, your doctor may fill out a “Non formulary request” form. This request takes about 1-2 weeks
to process. If you have outside insurance (such as IHS AHCCCS), you will be given a prescription
to take to a local pharmacy. In certain circumstances, we may give you a coupon to take to the
Winslow Wal-Mart so you don’t have to pay the co-pay. If you have no insurance, we will supply
the medication to you.
|
| Question:
|
Can I pick up my medicine later? Can someone else pick up my medicine?
|
| Answer:
|
Yes, you don’t have to wait for your medication. We hold medicines for 7 days
after they are filled before returning them to the shelves. If you can’t return in person for your
medication, you may send someone on your behalf.

| Question:
|
Why do I see some of you in military uniforms?
|
| Answer:
|
WIHCC employs officers from the U.S. Public Health Service. In the U.S.
Government, there are seven Uniformed Services. The Public Health Service is one of them.
Our officers have been deployed to provide medical support for national and international
disasters such as the attack on the Word Trade Center in 2001 and Hurricanes Katrina and Rita
in Louisiana in 2005.
